Walter White
Walter was a third round draft choice by Pittsburgh in 1975 and the Chiefs
were lucky
to claim him off the waivers that same year. In his debut as a Chiefs’
player against the
Denver Broncos, he caught a 69-yard touchdown pass from Mike Livingston.
During his second year as a member of the Chiefs, Walter was awarded the
Mack Lee Hill Award by his teammates. He went on to have a great career
with over 160 receptions, a 14.9 yard average gain and led the team in
receiving in 1977.
While in college, Walter played two years for the Maryland Terrapins as
both a tight end and a wide receiver. He finished his collegiate career
as the third leading receiver in school history, with 61 catches for 1,036
yards (a 17.0 yard average) and nine touchdowns.
Walter was recently elected vice president of Commerce Bank’s Investment
Group and is
honored for his involvement with numerous charitable ventures. Walter
served as president
of the Ambassadors from 1989 – 1998.
